Don't you hate it when Barry from Accounting walks out from the kitchen with a nice cup of coffee he's made in YOUR mug? Workplace etiquette dictates this action is a big no-no, but you also don't want to look petty in front of everyone by telling Barry that if he uses your mug again you will be submitting your claim receipts to him one-by-one. Now you don't have to go through the stress of workplace mug-loss (the new official term for the above scenario) thanks to the brilliantly designed Lock Cup from Israel designer, Efrat Gommeh.
This idea takes the everyday mug and ingeniously places a hole towards the bottom of it so that if anyone tries to fill it up with their preferred hot beverage, it will end up all over their shoes (or if you're lucky, down their trousers). But how do you use it then you ask? Well you have the key to plug up the hole and turn the mug from hole to whole.
This is an environmentally friendly alternative to using disposable cups to keep hygiene issues at bay. Unfortunately though, the cup hasn't been put into manufacture yet, but I am amongst the many pencil pushers who are just waiting to see this in stores on the high street. If nothing else, it would make a great gift for your next office Secret Santa.
From the same designer you can also find a saucer and tea cup which has a sharp curve under the bottom of the cup where you can hide a cookie to go with your tea, as well as a lamp with a built in bookshelf. Seeing is believing with these designs!
