Land Rover at the British Motor Show 2008

All the car fans out there will know that the British Motorshow 2008 opened its doors this week at the eXcel London. The event is expected to wheel spin into the history books as the UK’s most expensive car collection valued at over £37.4 million. I myself will be making my way down on Sunday and may have a few spare tickets so contact me if you’re desperately in need of some (first come first served of course).

Some of the big names exhibiting include the likes of Land Rover, who have a big presence there this year. Just to fill you in on some of the treats that will be on offer by Land Rover and of course make you super jealous is, outside the main hall you’ll be able to experience the very best of their off road abilities on the Terrapod assault course and inside the main showhall they will be showing off their new flagship Autobiography Range Rover. Also, just to give you an insight into their future designs; they will be showing off their concept Land Rover LRX for the first time in the UK.

Although I’m having to spend my hard earned cash to get to the show, these generous guys are paying for part of my journey there (from Leeds to London) by sponsoring the site this week with a funny video ad you may have seen on the right titled ‘Horsing Around’. The ad features Zara Phillips, the first Royal in direct line to the throne. Not only does the lovely Zara come with a privileged Royal upbringing but has also been blessed with beauty, making her the new face of Land Rover. The advert is an absolute treat and shows her leading her horse from its trailer, as a football 'jack the lad' tries it on with some terrible one liners and a dig about how riding a horse takes no skill. Zara and the horse listen for a while then the horse retorts in a suitably dignified manner.

Unfortunately, in the lead up to the Olympics, the ‘curse of the commercial’ has struck and Zara’s horse. Toytown got injured and looks like she won't be going to Beijing after all. Anyway have a look at the ad on the right.

Check out their site too as they are the proud supporters of British eventing – http://tinyurl.com/5p2abl

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
