CES: Mobile Geo – GPS Navigation Software for Visually Impaired

Mobile Geo is Code Factory's GPS navigation software that is 'the first solution specifically designed to serve as a navigation aid for people with a visual impairment'.

The software is compatible with more than 300 PDA's, as well as smartphones and Pocket PCs running on Windows Mobile Operating systems (versions 5.0, 6.0 and 6.1).

With Mobile Geo you can pinpoint your location, plan a route between specified points of origin and destination, get instructions on maneuvers to make as well as information about waypoints along a route that you are following and learn about the points of interest (POIs) in your immediate vicinity.

It functions with speech output from various text-to-speech engines and is able to speak more than 20 languages; works with external Bluetooth GPS receivers along with the built-in GPS receivers in some mobile devices and can be used with the speech output routed to a Bluetooth headset.

For full details (and believe me there's a whole lot more!) check out Mobile Geo at the Sendero Group website.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
