The TX54: Get that Punctuality Problem Nailed

For those of you who never quite got the minimalist craze, this item may leave you scratching your head a bit. The TX54 timepiece is designed to be worn on the thumbnail, meaning that chunky watches may soon be out despite what Brad Pitt advertises.

It is translucent to make it blend perfectly with your other nails and remains clear until it is activated. Once activated, there are a number of text colour selections so that for once your timepiece will go with whatever outfit you happen to be wearing. The glow feature ensures that although a bit gimmicky, the TX54 is practical enough to provide an easily readable interface.

This gadget is the product of a design competition held by Timex and Core77, to commemorate 150 years of Timex watches. The TX54 was runner up which is a pretty good effort for a clock that's less than an inch wide.

At this point in an article, I would usually now give ideas on the gadget's usefulness. Well, the TX54 would be great for people who like tight sweaters and have problems rolling the sleeve up 2 inches to expose their watch. It may also be beneficial for those with a specific form of RSI that prevents them turning their wrist 90 degrees to expose their watch face. For the rest of us though, it's ultimately a cool gadget, and something to own just because it's different and you want it.

It’s definitely the kind of gadget that no one else would have, which makes it (and you) pretty unique!

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
