Sneaky Peak at the HTC Iolite

Here's a sneak preview of  HTC's latest handset, the Iolite.  Now it hasn't officially been announced as yet, so there's no word on pricing or availability, but it's available for pre-order at Expansys

The Iolite uses a Qualcomm MSM7225 528MHz processor and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Operating System.  Using a li-ion 1100mAh battery, it gives you 400 minutes talktime and 330 hours standby time.  It has 512MB ROM and 288MB RAM.  Internal flash memory is expandable via a microSD card.

It's 14.5mm thick with a weight of 103 grams. It has 3G, GPS, A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate and A2DP, WiFi and mini USB 2.0 connection.

The Iolite has a 2.8inch LCD QWVGA touch screen and like HTC's other phones, uses the TouchFlo 3D interface.  The handset has touch sensitive front panel buttons and an HTC Footprints button (not sure what this is as yet"¦)

The Iolite features a 3.2megapixel camera - no word on the features of this, e.g. flash, autofocus etc.  I would imagine it supports video recording, let's just hope it's an improvement over the Diamond's recording capabilities.

As the Iolite uses Windows Mobile, I would imagine that this includes Office Mobile, Adobe PDF reader, Java MIDP 2.0, email, instant messaging and the usual extras such as games, calendar, tasks, calculator etc.

Hopefully we'll be able to bring you a review on the Iolite in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled!

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
