If you didn’t have an iPod before Christmas, chances are right now you’re using one to listen to your new Dido CD that was also packaged in your stocking. One thing that may not have been included, is a set of iPod speakers, and we’ve found some that are not only stylish, but great quality and even eco-friendly.

The Vers range of speakers include the Vers 1.5R and the Vers 2X. Both are undeniably attractive and would make any mantle piece proud, and both will set you up well for playing your tunes at your next party. So what are the differences between each?

vers15rThe Vers 1.5R is the smaller of the two, making it great for compact spaces such as a night stand. It will not only pump out the tunes from your iPod, but is also an AM/FM sound system and alarm clock.

It comes complete with an 18 function IR remote and has an adjustable backlit LCD, easy-to-read display.

The Vers 1.5R is available in Cherry, Natural Walnut, Dark Walnut, Bamboo and White Gloss finishes, so will fit in with any home.

If you’d rather fill your entire home with sound, then the Vers 2X system is a step up.  It’s still designed to fit the smallest space, but will fill the largest room.

vers_2xThe Vers 2X is a compact 30W system with two 3-inch speaker drivers. It delivers a full, rich sound thanks to its rigid, wooden cabinet.

It comes with a 14 function IR remote with an impressive 25' range and is available in Vers 2X is available in Cherry, Natural Walnut, Dark Walnut and Bamboo.

Vers speakers are handcrafted which is why each piece is a unique work of art in its own right. Each Vers system is finished by hand, and takes over a week to make,  for your patience, Vers will send out your new speakers by express next day delivery.

Both the Vers 1.5R and the Vers 2X have a silver-plastic iPod dock cradle on top which features Apple's Universal design and will charge your iPod when it’s docked. They also come with extra dock inserts for compatibility with most iPods. There are also connectivity options for non-Apple MP3 players.

  • I would probably ignore all iPod docks except the Bose Sounddock. I got one for Christmas and know a few people who have them. It is, in my opinion, unrivaled at £150 from most suppliers and looks fantastic.
