Rise of the Argonauts: The History Lessons Paid Off

Now, if you slugged it out in school, for hours whilst your history teacher blabbed on about “Greek Mythology” then, now is the time, to pat yourself on the back, because all that hard work has paid off.

An epic scale of action/RPG, Rise of the Argonauts mercilessly, throws you at the heart of a gladiatorial adventure. Set in the foothold of ancient Greece, you control Jason, king of Iolcus, a powerful warrior king, trained by the mighty lord of the Centaurs.

As the story begins, you have everything – a prosperous kingdom, the respect of your citizens and the love of Alceme, your beautiful bride to wed. And on that day where things needed not to go wrong, Alceme is assassinated. Overcome with rage, Jason leaves his kingdom on a perilous journey to Tartarus, where you must bring back the golden fleece – where it is said to bring the dead to life. Now you prepare yourself for the greatest voyage of all.

You immerse yourself in the ultimate hero’s journey, as you sail the “Legendary” Argo across vast oceans, and explore breathtaking islands of shiny cities, lush jungles and immense forests. As you travel you will be able to build your stats, upgrade weapons and customize the Argo (your Ship).

Throughout your search of the golden fleece, Jason is accompanied by many of Greece’s great, Mythological characters, such as Heracles, Achilles, Atalanta and many more. And as you roam, Jason can choose, two Argonauts, to fight alongside him, this may prove useful, as your thrown at the full front of some amazing, but yet, brutal combats. As you battle your way past many mythological foes, and gargantuan monsters, you become a spectator in RPG’s, next-generation experience. Develop specialised killing techniques and unleash deadly force with finishing moves, parries, and team combo’s.

Rise of the Argonauts graphics are abundant and te game play diverse. The revolutionary dialogue system dictates choice, upgrades, and story with unprecedented speed and depth, it almost like watch a Spielberg release. Rather, than watching through those boring “talking” scenes – that will never hurry up, no matter how hard you hit the controls – you get the option what to say, which may sound great, but might get you into all sorts of trouble, just be careful!

There’s endless amount of fun to be had whilst roaming, and searching villages. The game is colossus, and non-linear, which means, “run around have fun, and don’t be late for diner”, just remember to put the cat out!

Rise of the Argonauts was due for release this month on the 16th but after a few set backs, (not with the game) its due date has moved to the 6th of march 2009. So your going to have to be patient with this one.

Don’t forget to dedicate deeds to gods, to win their favour. Their power shape your future, world, and fate.
