Google Mobile App for iPhone – Now Featuring Voice Search

The much anticipated voice search application for the iPhone was due to be released last week.  However, there was a minor set back, but the application is now available for download at iTunes.

Updating on the previous version, Google Mobile App offers the user 2 new ways of searching with the new voice search and 'My Location' feature.

Upon launching the voice search application, the user simply speaks into the mouth piece, as they would during a conversation, slowly and clearly with their request.  Voice search uses speech recognition technology, transforming spoken words into text, running the query through Google as though it has been manually typed.

My Location (rolled out earlier this year) uses GPS to further personalise search results dependent on your location; making searching for businesses, movie info, weather or take-aways quick, easy and convenient to you without needing to enter your post code or address.

Other extras already incorporated in the previous version of Google Mobile App include the ability to launch Gmail, Google News and more from one place.  And when typing in the search box, suggestions appear to save time.

Seems like another plus for the iPhone and from what I’ve read so far, there have been lots positive reviews and user comments.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
