One of the most popular games on iPhone (no, not Draw Something), Temple Run, has finally made the jump to Android tablets and handsets, and can be downloaded for free from the renamed Google app store, Google Play.

Temple Run has been one of the most sought after games on Android, but has suffered several delays in getting the game released on Android.

During the delays, many people were taken in by scams and fake Temple Run apps that purported to be the real thing, despite pleas from the developers Imangi Studios, not to download these fake apps but to wait for the real thing.

The popular game has been a major hit on the iTunes App store with its simple premise: you control one of seven characters which is running through the jungle after stealing treasure from, you guessed it, a temple.

Your character runs automatically, while you swipe left or right to avoid objects. If swipe up or down the character leaps over or slides underneath obstacles.

If you're impatient like us, you can spend real money and buy more coins with which you can purchase power-ups and unlock characters.

Temple Run has been as massive hit on the iPhone, iPod and iPad - it's thought that the game has been downloaded a staggering 45 million times.

It's good to see that app gaming is in such rude health with recent success stories cropping up almost on a daily basis. This month we’ve had the amazing Draw Something which is current number one game on iOS.

The very first game to go properly mainstream and made hundreds of game developers take notice, Angry birds,  has recently seen a new version released where the birds are now in space.

The gaming app gap seems to closing as many developers are starting to release games on both Android and iOS at the same time - which is great news for fans of both.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
