3D may not have gained mass approval so far, but this hasn't stopped the corporations from going ahead and 3D-fy everything. After Tennis and Football, It is Formula 1's turn to get the 3D glory. Martin Turner, executive producer of F1 HD elaborated that Sky's ultimate plan is to cover the auto racing in 3D and that they would be doing it soon. He said, "We’ve got a lot of challenges and one of them will be, at some stage, to potentially do some 3D testing. One of the other challenges around that is that the teams – unlike in years gone by – are not allowed to drive their cars willy-nilly.”

Talking about various other challenged in the way of 3D shooting of race is that Sky obtains its race footage directly from F1 instead of the broadcaster, as is generally the case for other sports. Thus Sky is likely to face rights issues as well. But Sky is still upbeat and said, "I think our main concern is to get this first season up and running and do a great job, and there is still this little carrot of 3D. I would be lovely at some stage do some 3D, but none is carded at the moment.”

Sky is also revamping its F1 section of its official website and is clearly targeting to make its mark in F1 segment. Talking about its collaboration with F1, Sky said, "We’re a few weeks into a seven-year relationship and what you see now, what we’re going to offer in March 2012, will be far removed from what we can offer in March 2013, 2014, etc."

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
