While Microsoft is all set to launch Windows 8 this year, Google is feeling the heat of competition. In order to tackle Windows 8 challenge in a better way, the company is now looking to fast track the release of its 5.0 version also known as Jelly Bean. DigiTimes has quotes Taiwan makers as the source of this rumor. Apparently, Google partners are not happy with Android 4.0 performance, and thus Google has yet another reason to push 5.0 as soon as possible.
Rumors also suggest that Jelly Bean may come with the facility of dual booting Chrome OS, Google's cloud based desktop platform. Unlike Android, which is wildly popular, Chrome OS has failed to make its mark so far. So, now Google might be planning to give a piggy back ride to its lesser known OS. While Android is more suited for smartphones and other relatively smaller handheld devices, Chrome OS has the potential for devices like tablets and ultrabooks.
Though it is not clear whether the search engine giant would be releasing Android 5.0 on 27th of June, when its starts its I/O developer convention. Google may also be planning to launch Nexus tablets as well.
