Female Surpass Men in Buying Hot Tech Toys

Digital world is generally considered to be male-dominated, but a new survey published by international research firm Parks Associates suggests otherwise. Women are not only buying more tech products, but they are also more likely to download and share digital media content.

Tricia Parks of Parks Associates said, "Women are frequently the product buyers – and once she owns a CE product, she becomes a heavy user, most particularly for devices that allow sharing and uploading content and downloading TV programs." The report also suggests that due to this trend, tech companies are now focusing their attention to female populations, and hence the surge in tech products in vibrant colors.

The report also stated that female surpass in the purchase of most of the consumer electronics products. Women also tend to make better use of the products they buy. The report suggests that women value ease of use and simplicity. They are more interested in the efficiency of the products than the 'it' factor. Women are also making their presence felt in hitherto male-dominated areas such as video games. They are also more engaged in online social networking. The study was conducted by Parks Associates for HSN.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
