Now that Netflix has made its UK debut, Lovefilm is feeling the heat of competition. But Lovefilm is not going to back down and is now preparing for the battle. The video streaming outfit has just announced its new collaboration with Disney. The new pact will allow Lovefilm to stream ABC dramas to its subscribers. ABC has an enviable repository of popular shows including Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Ghost Whisperer and Lost.
Lovefilm is striving to offer these shows to its subscribers at early as possible. The company said, "Shows will be launched as full seasons after their first run on UK pay and/or free TV. Previous seasons of some series will even be available to members before the next season airs on UK television.” Lovefilm had recently introduced a new £4.99 per month package which will providing unlimited streaming to its subscribers. However, the package does not cover mail DVD service.
Lovefilm already has agreements with major studios such as Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. The new arrangement will help the company in further augmenting its streaming video library. Recently it had also struck deals with ITV and BBC Worldwide. One thing is clear that with increased competition, consumer stands to gain. So go ahead and enjoy your guilty pleasure.
