After months of speculation, Netflix has finally unveiled its services in the UK. The Film and TV subscription service is currently going through a rough patch in its niche US market, but its UK launch has been smooth so far. Netflix has brought about a huge repository of movies and TV shows and its content is ready to be streamed to various devices including TV, gaming consoles, smartphones and tablets.
Netflix stated, “We are starting 2012 in the best possible way: by giving consumers in the UK and Ireland an amazing entertainment experience. Now, you can enjoy as many great films and TV programmes as you want, when you want, where you want, for one low monthly price with no contracts or commitments.”
Netflix has announced the pricing of its packages. Basic package has been priced at £5.99 for UK residents, whereas Ireland will have to pay €6.99. However, if you want to test the waters before taking full dip, you can opt for free one month trial offer.
Netflix is currently operational in about 47 countries globally. In UK, it will be offering content from various production houses such Disney UK, 4OD, NBC Universal, BBC and Paramount. If you are more interested in TV programs then it is also going to stock previous seasons of shows like Top Gear and The Only Way Is Essex.
