Asus May Unveil 7-inch Tablet at CES 2012

Reportedly, there is a picture of an upcoming Asus tablet doing rounds on the internet. This 7-inch Eee Pad is likely to make its debut at CES 2012.  The tablet is also expected to be a convertible, with a detachable keyboard.

According to NotebookItalia, the new tablet has a form factor different from Eee Pad MeMo, which is likely to be released in the month of January itself. It is not clear whether Asus would be releasing both the tablets or whether MeMo has been cancelled altogether. However, it won't be the first time for MeMo to get an axe. The ill-fated tablet has been booted before too. MeMo was planned to be launched as glasses free 3D tablet. Later, the plans to release were scrapped due to multiple roadblocks and delays. Most recently, it was rumored that Asus would be releasing the tablet as conventional 2D device. It is also speculated that it would be based on Ice Cream Sandwich platform.

The new tablet seems to be running Honeycomb OS instead of Ice Cream Sandwich, though. Asus has not released any comments about this rumored picture.
