Orange UK is all set to handle a barrage of calls and texts on New Year eve. The network operator is expecting 78 million calls to be made on that night. According to Orange UK, the data usage is also likely to spike during that time and texts are expected to follow the suit. So, you may want to take this as fair warning and choose to send your wishes to the loved ones before the network gets all clogged up.
Orange said that it expects 170 million texts to be sent during the eve and since people would be posting messages on internet, the data consumption is also likely to go up. The figure for data usage on this New Year eve will be up by 25 percent in comparison to the last one. Similarly, people would be sending 14 percent more texts this year. According to Orange UK, "This New Year is set to be another record breaker for Orange customers, as they use their mobiles to welcome in the New Year.”
It's not only the calls, texts and data which will see the hike in numbers, but the picture message count is also expected to explode. It is expected that Britons will send 18 percent more picture messages on this New Year eve.
