Google+ was launched with the bang and for a while, it actually looked like that the new networking site will pose a tough challenge to current king, Facebook. However, after initial exuberance, the Google venture went quiet. Despite low profile, Google+ is doing just fine and now statistician Paul Allen has claimed that the site now has more than 62 million users. It is also being touted that the site is growing at the rate of 625,000 users daily.
If the trend continues, then the site is likely to have 100 million users by February 25th and 200 million users by August next year. Paul Allen also believes that 2012 will prove to be a good year for Google+ and it may end the year with 400 million users.
If these projections turn out to be true, then it would be a great boost for the fledgling social networking company. Its rival Facebook had taken seven years to reach 800 million user mark. According to Allen, "It may be the holidays, the TV commercials, the Android 4 sign-ups, celebrity and brand appeal, or positive word of mouth, or a combination of all these factors, but there is no question that the number of new users signing up for Google+ each day has accelerated markedly in the past several weeks."
