Kindle Fire May Provide Tough Competition to iPad

Kindle Fire may not be in the same league as iPad, but the low-end tablet is expected to offer some serious competition to Apple’s tablet. According to a recent study conducted by IDC, Kindle Fire may cause some serious damage to iPad's market share and may push it below 60 percent.

In the third quarter of the year, iPad held 61.5 percent of market share, while Samsung were a distant second with 5.6 percent market share. HP, thanks to the fire sale of its Touch Pad, grabbed five percent share and took third position. Third quarter of the year had been pretty rough for Android OS, which saw it market share plunging to 32.4 percent. In the second quarter of the year, the OS had 33.e percent market share.

Apart from Amazon Kindle Fire, Barnes & Noble's media tablet is also expected to do well. Tom Mainelli, research director of Mobile Connected Devices with IDC, said: "Amazon and Barnes & Noble are shaking up the media tablet market, and their success helps prove that there is an appetite for media tablets beyond Apple’s iPad." But, at the very same time, Analysts believe that Apple has yet to see the best times for iPad. The company is likely to sales proliferation in regions like Asia and the tablet is expected to maintain its position.
