Google Releases Catalog App for Android Tablets

Google Catalogs are now available for Android tablets. The newly released app has store catalogs of more than 125 major brands such as Nike, Williams Sonoma, Sephora and Nordstrom.  In total, the app contains over 400 catalogs. So now, you can finally say goodbye to those paper catalogs stuffed in your mailbox. And of course, it is a good way of saving a few trees too. Interestingly, the app has been available on iOS devices for quite some time.

The catalogs are exactly similar to their print counterpart in terms of layout, so you would not get any kind of shock and the transition is likely to be smooth. The best part is that you can simply click on the catalog and would be taken direct to an online store for completing your purchase. So if you are prone to impulse purchases, then probably you should stay away from this app.

Singing the paeans of the app, Google says, "With rich product images, videos, and the ability to curate your own personal collages to share with friends, Google Catalogs makes browsing your favorite mail order catalogs easy, fun and interactive."

The app strives to give you a realistic experience and thus lets you flip through pages. it also allows you to browse for additional pictures. Some catalogs may even contain some interactive media like videos. And to save your time and effort, you can simply search for products using key words. The search function will crawl through all the catalogs on your tablet and provide you with the information. The app is available for free.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
