We all are pretty accustomed to long lines at the launch of any new Apple device, but the Apple fans do not just stop at that. Their loyalty to the brand goes far beyond mere camping out the stores. According to a survey conducted by research company GfK, 84 percent of the iPhone owners do not stray from iOS. Android, on the other hand, has the same following from only 60 percent of its users. The survey was conducted on 4,500 smartphone users spread globally. Only 48 percent of the BlackBerry users pronounced their allegiance to the brand.
The research firm also stressed that smartphone segment shows high level of brand fidelity and the users prefer to stick to their preferred devices and operating systems. This means that the competition is going to have harder time poaching customers off their traditional brands. Though, Apple is clearly leading the pack, the report has some cautionary words for the Cupertino company, "Apple is clearly ahead of the game, but developments next year will challenge that, “Apple is clearly ahead of the game, but developments next year will challenge that.”
The main reason behind the reluctance to change brands is the integration factor. Most of the smartphone users prefer to stick to their tried and tested methods of convergence and data access.
