Are You Stuck in a Broadband Traffic Jam?

You might be paying big bucks for super fast broadband internet connection but in reality, most of the subscribers are getting short changed. Not only ISPs fail to provide the advertised surfing speed, but they also fail miserably to avoid bottlenecks which result in further deteriorated service during the rush hour. According to a survey conducted by uSwitch, during the rush hour, the internet speed may drop by as much as e5 percent. The survey was conducted using data from 2 million broadband subscribers.

The findings are somewhat predictable yet interesting. Thus, if you want to zoom through internet, your best bet is to fire up your computer between 2 AM and 3 AM, which is the most efficient time for internet surfing, thanks to low web traffic. The analysts found that during this time period your speed may be as high as 9.6Mbps.

However, the worst time is between 7 PM and 9PM. During these hours, the average download speed totters around at 6.2 Mbps. The slower speed is mainly due to the fact that during this time period, more people try to get a share of limited broadband resources. The survey also showed that some areas are more affected by such slowdowns. Worcestershire showed a massive 69 percent decline in its internet speed in the evening time. So, if you happen to live in this area, then try logging in during morning hours, when the average download speed is 15.5 Mbps, in comparison to puny 4.9Mbps you will get during evening.
