Netflix may be losing ground in the US, but the service is still very much on with its international plans. In recent past, Netflix expanded its operations to Latin America and alluded that it would be interested in gaining foothold in British and Ireland market. Now, Netflix has confirmed its plans for the UK invasion. The media streaming company is likely to face tough competition from YouTube and LoveFilm. However, it is not the first time Netflix has planned to enter British market. About six years back, it had the same plans, which were eventually scraped.
Netflix did not reveal its exact pricing policy in the UK, but it looks like the subscription would start from £5. You can expect to rent or stream unlimited number of movies or TV shows under this plan. Netflix had recently come under fire when it tried to decouple its streaming and mail DVD business. Hope, it does not repeat the same mistake in the UK.
Netflix had launched its services in the US in 2007, and in 2010, it expanded its scope to Canada. 2011 had been a pretty big and busy year for Netflix as it expanded to about 43 countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. Netflix supports various devices including gaming consoles for streaming its content. In the US, you can even use Xbox e60 and PS3 for watching Netflix content. The company has not elaborated upon its plans for the UK, but stay tuned as it makes its debut in 2012.
