LoveFilm beware, YouTube rentals are finally here in the UK. The Google company has made its first over the internet rental venture
outside of the North America. The new service will let you rent full length movies from its exhaustive repository of thousands of films. YouTube's collection is diverse enough to cater to all tastes. The service is already available in the United States, where it was launched in May and in Canada, where it debuted in September.
The rental period for the movies is going to be e0 days, which means that you need to start watching your movie within e0 days of renting it. Once you start watching it, you will have 48 hours to finish it or after which the streaming will be disabled. However, there are a couple of movies of questionable quality around, which are available for free viewing. The movies will be streamed at 480p resolution and you can watch the movies on your PC, HDTV, Google TV and Android based gadgets such as tablets and smartphones.
To make the offering suitable for the UK consumption, YouTube has included quintessential British titles such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. The service is collaborating with all the major studios, so expect the movie library to grow exponentially in the coming times. YouTube will be competing with Amazon's LoveFilm, which has a strong following in the UK and Europe.
