While industry is still debating the merits of Apple's case against Samsung, the Cupertino company has successfully rained on Samsung's parade. Samsung tablet is currently on hold in most of the major markets and is not up for sale despite their launch. However, now it is Samsung's turn. The Korean company has now counter sued Apple in Australia and is claiming that iPhone and iPad violates its patents. Samsung had to delay launching its Galaxy tablet in Australia due to Apple case.
Samsung claims that Apple products are guilty of violating its wireless communication patents. The case implicates iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad 2. Samsung also claimed that Apple's allegations against its tablet are unfounded and should be revoked. Both the companies are embroiled in legal battle all over the globe.
Apple and Samsung, once were BFFs, and Samsung was one of the biggest parts suppliers for Apple and they had a number of collaborations going on. However, these joint projects did not stop Apple from suing Samsung. Though, their relationship survives the lawsuits for a while, but after a while, Apple severed its parts-supply relationship with Samsung.
However, the case has brought IP rights problem in spotlight. It is not just Apple vs. Samsung, but the entire tech industry is fast becoming a battle ground, where the companies are competing with each other not through innovation, but through court cases. Whatever is the outcome of this skirmish, but the direction being taken by the tech industry is not a good omen for the consumers.

I’ve said this before and I repeat it … Apple are behaving like spoiled children and they should grow up !
It’s to my rising regret that Samsung have evidently decided to counter in a similar way. They have gone down in my estimation.
Imagine Ford and Toyota behaving in this way. Not !!! The world’s press would laugh them off the news pages in a day. They would be right to do so.
It’s time that the world’s computer press did the same; and recognised just how many jobs are at stake for the sake of misplaced pride.
