Google+ has really got Facebook revving up its engines. Just a short time back, Facebook introduced “smart Lists” for helping you prioritize your relationships. But, now Facebook has decided to take on a new nemesis, Twitter. Facebook has introduced a new button ‘subscribe’ which is more or less capable of rendering Twitter redundant. The new button will let you ‘follow’ updates from other Facebook users without ‘friending’ them. Thus, this new feature also presents a paradigm shift for Facebook. It looks like that the social networking behemoth is now all set to test new uncharted territories and move beyond mere ‘friendship’.
Facebook finally recognizes that its website is not exactly very user friendly. It writes in the blog, ‘Until now, it hasn’t been easy to choose exactly what you see in your News Feed.’ It also clearly mentioned that Facebook is now trying to get hold of celebrities which are the mainstay of Twitter. Along with this button, Facebook is also introducing a bunch of customizing options, which will let you fine tune your feeds. The new button will let you decide if you want to be notified of only major events in your friends’ life.
Facebook is certainly doing its best to become the undisputed king of social networking and for this purpose, it is ready to challenge not only Google+, but is also ready to take on Twitter. It is also diversifying itself. There are rumors in the market that some leaked documentation from Facebook HQ showed that the site is contemplating a new feature real soon, which will allow you to Twitter, rite from your Facebook page. Future certainly looks exciting for Facebook.
