Sony is a little late to the tablet party, but it looks like
it is all set to fill the void created by the departure of HP TouchPad. Nicknamed
S1, the tablet has been officially christened as Tablet S. The tablet comes with
9.4 inch display with 1280 x 768 pixels resolution. Tablet S employs TruBlack
screens which produce less glare and hence are more amenable to outdoor use.
these screens are also known for providing better colors. The tablet runs on
Android 3.1 platform. However, it will be upgradable to Ice Cream version as it
becomes available.
Among other features, the tablet boasts of dual camera. Its front
facing camera is 3 MP strong whereas rear facing camera is 5 MP. Sony is also
planning to launch a bevy of compatible accessories such as wireless keyboard.
Apart from this, there would be dock for the tablet as well.
Sony emphasized that the tablet is designed to ensure
networking with Sony and other products. The tablet will be preloaded with PlayStation
Certified games, so the tablet is likely to be lapped up by gaming aficionado.
Sony did not provide exact date of launch and price tag, but the tablet is
likely to priced at $599 point. Expect the tablet to hit the markets during the
first two weeks of September.
