We've already given you a low-down on what you can expect if you purchase on the amazing new Honeycomb tablets with our face-off feature between Android honeycomb and Apple iOS.
Now we thought we'd give you some help with filling up your new tab with the best apps money can buy. Here are five we think that you definetley consider when traipsing around the Android Market place.
No top ten list would be complete without some flying birds. Angry Birds has been a massive success story and a those multicoloured birds have never looked so good on a tablet and with the Tegra graphics in toe.
The Android Honeycmb version is probably the best available at the moment. Crisp graphics, super-fast frame rate and the widescreen capabilities of Honeycomb tabs make the Rio edition a must for anyone.
Closely associated with the upcoming cartoon " RIO "from Twentieth Century Fox, in this version you don't have to destroy evil green egg-robbing pigs (instead, you free trapped birds from cages) the gameplay is still very enjoyable. Plus the optimized tablet interface guarantees super-sharp accuracy to let you get working on that high score.
Pulse is a brilliant news readers and it feels much more at home on a tablet than on a tiny phone screen. The app displays feeds in an attractive mosaic view; to read a story, simply tap it to expand it in a side window.
Pulse has full integration with social networks so you can send articles to friend and followers on Facebook and Twitter. You can also use it to view tweets and Facebook feeds as a news feed.
For an application this refined, Pulse is bizarrely completely free (for the moment anyway"¦). It's an absolutely essential application for anyone who wants to stay connected with the what going in the world.
MoboPlayer is one of the best video player we’ve come across for Honeycomb tablets – it will let you play almost every conceivable codec. This mean you can avoid the need to convert all your videos to play on your tablet -- simply drag and drop your movie files onto your tablet's storage and MoboPlayer will categorise them using an iTunes-style "Cover Flow" interface.
Moboplayer is the app that Android honeycomb tabs should have come with, quite often the current crop of players baked into tablets will not play the files you have – so grab Moboplayer and enjoy your videos in a myriad of different file formats.
Apparatus Price: £1.24
Apparatus is virtual version of Meccano masquerading as a puzzle game; it is an interesting take on a construction game wherein you have to strategically place and nail together blocks of wood to guide the blue ball into the bucket.
The aim of the game is to guide the ball into the blue bucket – it’s that simple. There are plenty of levels to choose from and they all get progressively harder as the game goes on.
Apparatus is available in both phone and tablet versions but I feel that the interface and gameplay does suit a larger tablet screen. The lite version (which is free), gives you a taster of the game and features a few levels - well worth it if you simply want to try it out.
The default Honeycomb browser is pretty good, but when it comes to dealing with Flash video it seems to bite off a little more than it can chew. As a result, we've found ourselves using Dolphin Brower HD instead.
Dolphin Browser HD comes with a couple of really handy features, like being able to swipe from the side to up it your browser history and bookmarks, or offering up Add-ons (if you feel you want them).
But the thing we like the most about Dolphin Browser is the control that you get. You can opt to have the browser identify itself as a desktop browser (or iPad browser) rather than an Android browser. So you’ll never been navigated the rubbish mobile version of your sites.
