Pull out the red carpet, get your cameras at the ready as we introduce to you the latest addition to the Sat Nav A-List, the TomTom GO 930. Making it the envy of all the other Sat Navs, the TomTom GO 930 has got it all, brains as well as beauty…but surely underneath that flawless exterior there lurks an imperfection? The only way to find out is to read on to see whether the TomTom GO 930 can cut it, as a Sat Nav A-Lister….
Review
Style and beauty defines the exterior of the TomTom GO 930. Posing a 4.3″, 16:9 format widescreen display, this sexy Sat Nav is opting for the size zero option with its slim design to fit right into your pocket with ease.
Under it sexy exterior it looks as though the TomTom GO 930, has certainly been blessed with a great set of brain cells. With voice input, its fast and easy to set your destination, rather than the old style pressing of the destination button, all you need to do is to speak. Simply say ‘home’ and the TomTom GO 930 will alleviate your home sickness by planning your route in a jiffy and taking you to ‘home sweet home.’
All of its routes, be it to the local shop or to your parents house are all calculated by set average speeds on roads that have been recorded rather than the maximum speed on the road. This may save you time as the TomTom will not send you down a road that's the national speed limit but is always grid locked as the average speed on the road may actually only be 20Mph.
With the ability to make and receive hands-free calls as well as Map Share Technology, which allows users to make corrections to their own maps as well sharing them with other TomTom users, the TomTom GO 930 can save you a lot of time and effort when you’re on the road.
The Gaj-It verdict
Design: 9/10
Usability: 10/10
Features: 9/10
Value: 8/10
We say: The only imperfection that lurks behind this sleek exterior is the price tag, retailing at £399. Jammed packed with a whole host of features, it looks as though when TomTom produced this TomTom GO 930, they definitely had time and efficiency in mind. However, don’t be foiled by all the colourful features because if you’re not going to need or use them then the TomTom GO 930 may not be worth the buy and opting for a cheaper model maybe better.

Key Features from manufacturer
TomTom IQ Routesâ„¢ The new TomTom IQ Routesâ„¢ technology is based on actual average speeds on roads, rather than the sign-posted speed limits. This intelligent routing technology is based on anonymous historical speed profiles of more than 10 billion kilometres of driven roads, gathered over the years by millions of TomTom users. It takes into account all the factors that may influence the time it takes drivers to get to their destination, including traffic lights, roundabouts, steep slopes and speed bumps.
The TomTom IQ Routesâ„¢ speed profile database continues to grow at the rate of more than half a billion measurements per day, so the time and spatial accuracy of TomTom IQ Routesâ„¢ technology will increase continually. Drivers can be confident that they will always be given the smartest route incorporating detailed local knowledge. This allows for more efficient daily route planning, in particular when driving through urban or hilly areas.
Advanced Lane Guidance With the new Advanced Lane Guidance feature, navigating difficult junctions becomes easier than ever before. This realistic representation of highway junctions on the screen, including clear arrows indicating the lane direction, provide drivers with timely instructions to take the correct lane. The only difference between this and the x30 siblings is that with the 930 you get a remote, more maps and enhanced positioning, is that right?
Yes thats correct, although I dont see the reasoning behind a remote.
