What you see above is not the iPhone 5, but is a mock-up made at a factory in the same province where the actual iPhone 5 is being made. Could this be what the new Apple handset looks like?

This is certainly the closest thing we've seen from the months of leaks, rumours and concepts.  If you’ve missed out on some of the concepts which have been floating around the internet then check out T3’s mock photos, images and designs of the iPhone 5 all helpfully pooled together under one digital roof.  These designs show off what the iPhone 5 could possibly look like however, could this mock up made at the factory be the real thing and not just a concept?

From the looks of it, the new mock-up matches rumours that Apple would employ rounded glass for the screen and back – bearing striking resembelance to spy shot published last week of someone reportedly using the new blower on a train in San Francisco.

From the front it looks a bit like the first iPhone with some design cues from the iPhone 4 and 3GS models. It's very Apple in design and aesthetics.

The clone is allegedly only 7mm thick, but it’s only a case and doesn't actually have any innards. But it could be that Apple is going for a much thinner form factor.

It’s not the first time that a product might have been cloned before it’s even in shops, quite often designs and blueprints fall into the wrong hands in Asia – so this could actually be a prototype from the first run of production.

Given that the iPhone 5 is probably being churned out of the factories as we speak – either in limited production runs or ramping up – we wouldn’t be surprised if someone got a prototype and sold it to some naughty pirate company.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
