Apple To Dump Foxconn For A New Manufacturer ?

After months of accidents, suicides and deaths Apple might be throwing in the towel on its longstanding partnership with Foxconn.

Rumours emanating from South-east Asia are suggesting the Apple might well be ready to dump Foxconn entirely.

A report in the Taiwan Economic news quotes an industry source who says the Pegatron, which has recently secured contracts to make the iPhone 5 and iPad 3, will be the only manufacture Apple will use.

It had been thought that Apple would use both manufactures to make the new iDevices - with Pegatron bolstering Foxconn's current production of forthcoming devices.

But this latest rumour seems to suggest the Apple will drop Foxconn, which has enjoyed a Apple exclusivity for many years, and will use Taiwanese manufacturer Pegatron instead.

As many of you may well know Foxconn has suffered countless difficulties with staff suicides, deaths and accidents - creating a PR disaster for Apple and its squeaky clean image.

Over the last 18 months Foxconn has suffered several high-profile suicides, culminating in the company making its employees to sign non-suicide agreements.

There was even an explosion at one of their factories where several people lost their lives. It would seem that Apple just doesn’t want the bad press anymore and  is finally giving up its partnership with Foxconn.

Neither Foxconn or Apple has officially announced anything, so we can only take this as a rumour for the time being. But it seems like Apple wants to distance itself from Foxconn and its questionable working practices.
