LulzSec Playing Game of Cat and Mouse with Police: Denies Member's Arrest

UK Police recently claimed to arrest one of the top minds of hacking group LulzSec. Apparently, Police nabbed a 19 year old, who was operating under online moniker of "Topiary". Topiary was considered to be among the top brass of the hacking group and was also believed to be involved in the hacking of financial firm HBGary. He was also accused to arranging funds for the group's hacking endeavors. So, when Scotland Yard agents took him down, it looked like a big victory for the law enforcement agency. However, the euphoria was short-lived.

However, now it looks like that the Police has got a wrong person on its hands and that the arrested person is not after all related to LulzSec. There is a chat transcripts doing rounds on the internet which suggests that the real Topiary is still at large. It also seems like that the real Topiary is actually a 23 year old living in Sweden. But, the authenticity of chat transcripts is also questionable, which further complicates the matter.

Police seems to be at loss when it comes to tackling new age cybercriminals. The ineptness of the enforcement agencies is at full display in this latest case. We just hope that Police gets to nab real offenders soon, but in the meantime, Topiary is just going to be added to the growing list of wrong guys who got nabbed by Police.
