Apart from Jamie Oliver, who goes to Sainsbury's? Even Morrisons is a bit small fry these days compared to the big two, despite Richard Hammonds and Take That. Anyway, enough about grocery stores and their celebrity endorsements. The point is, if you do in fact go to Sainsburys, you'll be pleased to know they've 'pimped up' their mobile site so you can now shop on the go.
Customers are now able to browse over 15,000 products including home and garden appliances, technology and toys. Not forgetting food of course. Supermarkets are taking this whole cyber shopping thing seriously. Apparently they have directors of digital now, like Tanya Lawler of Sainsbury’s who said: “We know that our customers are increasingly looking to engage with us digitally and this new mobile shopping site is a big step towards Sainsbury’s becoming a true cross channel retailer.”
The new Sainsburys mobile website was built by Usablenet, the leaders in 'mobile and multi-channel platform developers.' Sainsburys mobile app, downloadable on iPhone, Nokia and Android, allowed users to access personalised offers, collect Nectar points and even use GPS to find the location of the nearest store. It was downloaded 250,000 times.
Will the mobile site be as popular? “We are confident that the ability to shop on mobile devices with Sainsbury’s will be a real success with our customers” said Lawler.
The supermarket said the mobile site can be accessed by any mobile device or operating system. So get your phone out and order a new BBQ and a s*** load of meat, before the rain comes.
