Apple Working with LG and Samsung for Retina Displays for iPad

Apple and Samsung may be embroiled in a bitter patent battle, but when it comes to designing hi-tec displays for iPad, looks like the companies are able to put their differences aside. Apparently, Apple is testing out HD displays for the next gen iPad and LG and Samsung are sweating it out for grabbing the contract.

Essentially, Apple is planning to retain the dimensions of the current tablet but would be quadrupling the resolution with an HD display. While rumors are rumors, but if you delve deeper into the latest iOS, you will vignettes which will provide the clue about the future direction to be taken by the Cupertino company.

We get to hear rumors about iPhone and iPad ad nauseum, but the current round of rumors suggests that the company may launching a range of iPhone this year. Though, it would mean that the company would be re-packaging its older generation phones and offering them to the adoring public at lower price points. So, if you are looking for a starter iPhone, you may want to wait a little.

Similarly, Apple is expected to add new models to the existing iPad range. The company had released iPad 2 a couple of months back. If Apple launches new iPad with added features, the original iPad2 is going to be 'so last year', which begs the question if Apple is cannibalizing its own products with too frequent updates.
