Is Google Music Store about to Become Reality

Google is carrying out its remodeling project and it has just given a makeover to its Android Market. The new app market features more intuitive layout and also has new feature for renting movies and books. However, music is conspicuous by its absence. But if you delve a little deeper, you will find a different story altogether. Some of the system files of the store show that the internet search behemoth is planning to launch a fully fledged music store.

Google and a couple of other companies had been trying to delve into music streaming business, but Apple surpassed all of them by quickly striking deals with major record labels. However, Google went ahead and launched the service on a limited scale. But if some hidden system files are any sign, then the service may become mainstream real soon. Thought, it is not clear yet whether Google has reached any deal with record labels or not.

However, Google seems a bit late to the party. Apple is a clear numero uno when it comes to music streaming with Amazon as a distant second place holder, though Amazon does have the advantage of very competitive pricing. Further, Spotify has recently announced its US debut, which is sure to make things more difficult for Google Music project. In fact, Spotify is likely to make Google's locker service a bit dated. Currently, Google is riding on the early success of its social networking, let's see if it would be able to make splash with its music service.
