American music fans can rejoice this morning as the amazing music streaming application Spotify launches today.
From today users will be able to sign up to Spotify USA and it comes in two different flavours; $4.99 for the unlimited ad-free version and $9.99 for the unlimited premium mobile version.
The free tier will be available over the coming weeks and will allow users a few hours of free music a month, when you run out you'll have to wait until the next month, or pay for a subscription.
As someone who has the mobile version it's totally worth the $9.99 you can also download tracks to your phone’s memory - so when you have no Wi-Fi or 3G coverage you can still listen to the musical fruits of Spotify on the go.
Even better news is that the service will becoming to all available device that it's currently on in Europe - so if you have a iPhone, Android, Symbian, Windows Phone and Palm your in luck.
When Spotify freemium Aservice launches in America it will be the only free service available in North America and this will certainly entice users to go and check it out.
Ken Parks, chief content officer at Spotify declared that US consumers are going to fall in love with Spotify: "It's lightning fast. It's dead simple to use. We've made it very easy to share music. And we've made it extremely easy to share your collection with friends. Free is also pretty great value."
Park and Co have high expectations for the music streaming site in America and are targeting 50 million paying subscribers within a year worldwide.
Currently, Spotify has one million paying subscribers across the U.K, Finland, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Spain, so the 50 million number seems a little inflated. But with a deal with Facebook apparently in the works the 50 million could be achievable.
