Apple users are known for their allegiance towards the Cupertino kingdom. However, their loyalty is not limited to empty devotion, but they are willing to spend their hard earned money for supporting their messiah. According to a report released by Piper Jaffray, Apple users tend to buy 61 percent more apps. They are also likely to download more apps and thanks to their tendencies, Apple App Store recently crossed 15 billion download mark.
The trend is likely to not only continue but is also expected to gain traction. The report says that an iOS user downloaded 51 apps in 2010, but the number of apps downloaded by an average user is likely to increase to 83 in 2011. This means that Apple will take even lesser time to tally another 15 billion downloads. iOS users are also increasing the number of apps bought. After some slump, the average price of paid apps is also increasing.
Apple App Store has also maintained its lead over competing app markets. Its closest competitor is still struggling at 200,000 apps while Apple has comfortable lead with 425,000 apps. Android Market also yet has to cross 5 billion download mark, as its current tally sits at 4.5 billion. Though, for the sake of making fair comparison, It should be noted that Apple App Store had been around for much longer time.
