Apple's hotly anticipated release of their latest desktop operating system OS X Lion is set to happen next week on July 14 according to internet reports.
According to Apple Insider, Apple's retail staff have been told to make RAM upgrade to in-store Mac's by no later that Sunday 10 July.
The news comes from insiders with access to Apple's retail news service. Apparently their will be overnight training shifts will be taking place next week in order to get staff fully up to speed with the new iOS-influenced software.
It all means Mac fanatics will be able to grab OS X Lion from the Mac App Store in the next seven days. The same report claims that customers could even attend an Apple store to download the update and get training to get to grips with its new features.
Lion is supposed to take all of the best bits from Apple’s mobile operating system iOS and add them to the grown-up version, meaning anyone without a multi-touch laptop or one of Apple’s overpriced input devices will be missing out on many of the new bells and whistles.
There are also rumblings that any Mac without a Thunderbolt port – some low-end MacBooks, Mac Minis and desktop Mac Pros – will get a hardware refresh at the same time.
Keep an eye out for the traditional ‘We’ll be back soon’ stickie on the Apple web site, and get back here on the 14th for news on all the new toys.
