There's still no significant evidence that consumers are ready for 3D or even want it. Maybe it will always remain a novelty. Perhaps some people would prefer to enjoy a boxing match without having virtual fists thrust at their face or a game of golf where the ball remains firmly inside the television set. Whether we want it or not though, manufacturers are not stopping in their relentless pursuit of the latest three dimensional visions. LG brought 3D to the TV, Nintendo brought 3D to SuperMario, we've seen a 3D smartphone from HTC and whispers of 3D tablets. What's missing?
Laptops of course! And it's Toshiba who'll step up to the game with the new Qosmio F750 3D; the world's first glasses-free 3D laptop.
The laptop will be able to display 2D and 3D images simultaneously and will be powered by an Intel Core i7, and GeForce GT 540M graphics. As well as 3D, Toshiba are pushing the humble web cam to the next level. Every laptop these days has a beady little eye on the top of the screen which acts as a webcam, that probably nobody uses, if you are a webcam fanatic though, this laptop is for you as the Qosmio's cam is a HD eye-tracking cam.
The Windows 7 Home Premium running laptop will be launched in the UK this August. Surprise, surprise the price is not yet confirmed, here's an estimate of the price tag, massive.
It seems Toshiba and just trying to show off to other companies by grabbing the title of world's first (glasses-less)3D laptop but, then again if there's anything that could entice us to 3D it's this. If you're shopping for a laptop anyway and you can get one that is capable of showing 3D films and playing 3D games without glasses, you're going to be tempted.
