Patent wars between tech manufacturers are getting more common and more vicious. As you will know, a patent dispute is a way for companies to protect technology that they have themselves designed and protected. But it seems the legal aspect of patent disputes are getting lost and court cases are descending into brawls with both sides trying to sucker punch each other and using apparent patent infringements to damage the reputation and the bank balance of competitors.
One battle that's making the headlines at the moment is the Samsung Vs Apple patent battle. With Samsung attempting to counter-sue Apple, the court case is becoming something of a carnival. Recently Samsung attempted to legally force Apple to show them all their future plans for the iPhone range after Apple tried to demand Samsung unveil their plans for upcoming Android handsets.
The latest mad request in this tech carnival comes from Apple's attempt to ban a whole host of Samsung's products including phones and tablets. If the injunction is passed Samsung will be banned from making, selling and importing the Galaxy S 4G, Infuse 4G, Droid Charge and Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet
“A preliminary injunction is necessary not only to protect Apple’s rights, but also to protect the public interest,” Apple said in its filing. Nothing to do with taking out a major competitor then?
