Are you Ready for "Something Awesome" from Facebook: Is it iPad App or Project Spartan?

In all earnestness, we really hope it is not a new "awesome" way to "harvest your users' personal data". But Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is all excited about next week, as the social networking site is ready to "launch something awesome."  And would you believe it, Facebook refused to provide any other information. What a bunch of tease?

Since Facebook is not ready to divulge the details, we have to our detective suit on. Reportedly, Facebook is working on a project codenamed "Project Spartan". It is an HTML5 based project, which would make it possible for Facebook to sell its apps by-passing Apple's App Store. The real kicker is that Apple might actually be helping Facebook in the development of this project to ensure that Flash dies a painful death in the hands of HTML5. But it looks like that the project is still in the nascent stage and therefore it looks highly unlikely that it would be released next week.

There are other speculation that Facebook might be launching dedicate iPad Facebook app, finally! The tablet is on to its second iteration, but Facebook yet has to come up with its app for the blockbuster product. Now, this one is a highly plausible scenario, though we think "something awesome" is kind of excessive for this offer.

Or it might be something entirely new. Google has just come up with its yet another social networking endeavor Google+. So, it is highly likely that Facebook is going to launch an offensive against the new site. All in all, this week had been pretty exciting for Facebook as AT&T and HTC launched their new phone in the US, all decked up with  a dedicated Facebook button.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
