No Nokia N9 For Europe? We Get SeaRay

Back in the day, there were a lot of hopes pinned to MeeGo it was meant to be the system that would put Nokia back at the top. Only it didn't because it got thrown on the scrapheap for a dubious business deal with Microsoft and their small-fry operating system. It's a shame too because the N8 was a fantastic smartphone, the camera alone was enough to justify its existence.

However despite the success of the N8, it's follow up, the N9 may not even get the chance to prove itself, at least not here in the UK. It would seem that Europe is the main target for the Windows Phone 7 running Nokia handset attack, meaning we'll most likely miss out on the MeeGo powered N9.

Nokia fans have noticed that the Nokia list of available countries for the N9, is visibly lacking in European countries. UK, Spain, France, Germany, Italy for example or not listed whilst Greece is; hardly an appropriate market for a high-end smartphone.

So what's going to fill the gap in West-Europe? Most likely, the SeaRay Nokia's rumoured handset which is basically an N9 hollowed out and stuffed with Windows Phone software.

Elop recently unveiled the handset which is a 'fully functional Windows Phone 7 device' with a Gorilla Glass-coated touchscreen and of course the legendary 8-megapixel auto-focus camera with Carl Zeiss optics.

So what's going to happen when the consumers reject the windows running handsets? Nokia can't exactly go running back to MeeGo.
