Research firm Flurry has come up with an interesting report and it validates the attempts of various tech companies trying to come up with their app stores. After all, apps are now more popular than the internet itself and the app world is now the cool place. According to the report, the users are now spending more time using apps. On an average, a user spends 74 minutes on internet every day, whereas apps receive good 81 minutes of daily quota. The data was culled from the surfing habits of around 85,000 users in the month of June.
The report also highlights the fact that the apps are becoming more acceptable and mainstream. In December last year, users were spending mere 66 minutes on accessing apps daily, which again is a tremendous improvement over 43 minutes of time share apps were getting a year before that. However, it is not just the apps, but even internet is becoming more and more integral part of life. The average time spent on surfing the web is also steadily increasing. In December, the users were spending 70 minutes on surfing the net, up from 64 minutes a year earlier.
So exactly what kind of apps are most popular? Out of the total time, 47 percent is spent on gaming apps whereas social networking apps consume 32 percent of the time. Paltry 9 percent time is allocated to reading news. These numbers again confirm that tablets, which are heavily dependent on apps, are basically a consumption device.
