HTC’s Latest Masterpiece: the Evo 3D, or Is It?

Is there just no stopping HTC? Every new tech that emerges, they jump on top of it. It may well be a gimmick but 3D (at least on portable devices) is all the rage. Having a massive TV and a basket of expensive clunky glasses may not be the cheapest and most convenient way of enjoying entertainment in the third dimension but having 3D in your pocket and being able to watch it with it glasses, anytime, that's pretty cool.

In other words, the HTC Evo 3D is set to hit Europe and chances are it's going to go down a storm just like the HTC Desire, Wildfire, HTC everything else. But there is competition in the form of the LG Optimus 3D.

So what's in the Evo 3D and what's its purpose? As you'd imagine, the processor is a whopper at 1.2GHz. There's a not bad 5MP camera,

Some tech bloggers despise the idea of the Evo 3D, they think it's pretty useless. If the battery life is as tragic as some of the other smartphones out there, they might be right. But if HTC have built a handset which can handle itself then we're talking about 3D photos and videos, and that's not only watching but capturing, shoot a video in 3D and hook it up to your 3D TV, awesome! (if you're made of money.) Then there's 3D games, arguably the Android store isn't exactly packed with the yet, but once we see more, there's a real opposing force against the already struggling 3DS.

The question is what's next for HTC, they've done HD, 3D, Android and Windows Phone 7, what's the next mobile gimmick going to be?

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
