The way we experience television is changing. The days of the TV guide are on their last legs as services such as catch-up-TV and Sky + allow us to be the master of our own schedule. But these days we are not only free from the tyranny of the Radio Times but we're also moving away from the TV itself. We can now watch television on our computers and laptops and more interestingly, on tablets and smartphones making entertainment truly portable. Much more portable than the 'portable TV.' The latest company to transfer from the living room to the pocket is ITV who have just made their catch-up streaming service available to Android users.
ITV Player for Android is available now and is compatible with all devices running version 2.2 and above along with Adobe Air 2.6 or higher. The app (which works only with Wi-fi connections) will allow users to watch previously broadcast shows from ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4.
Though registration is required the app is free to install in the UK and Apple users have no reason to feel left out. ITV has announced that it is working on an iPhone and iPad version too. Is it interesting that they want for Android first, Apple second? It's usually the other way around.
