As we turn our back on another exciting E3, the tech world is already buzzing about what next year's conference could possibly bring. Courtesy of a mole at Crytek (the developers behind Far Cry and Crysis) it is now rumoured that the Xbox 720 announcement we've all been waiting for will arrive this time next year. According to the anonymous source a new Timesplitters game is under construction in preparation for both the next generation of Xbox and Playstation consoles, with the former said to be coming with DirectX 11 graphics (whilst the Wii U will launch with DirectX 10.1.)
The rumour comes as no shock, and even if it turns out to be true, it's not really worth getting excited about. Word is, that despite the possibility of an announcement as earlier as next year, the console won't actually be hitting shelves until late 2013, giving the big M a year to get us excited, and Sony shaking in their boots.
But then again it's more promising than the 2015 ETA, which would seem like a Hell of a long wait now that the Kinect hype has died down a bit and the Wii U has began to bring the future of gaming into the presence. So fingers crossed for a 2013 release, which fits with a lot of analysts' predictions. But then, double fingers crossed for an even earlier release. All this guesswork and document leaking takes the fun out of things, don't you think? It would be great for us all to wake up and see an announcement by Microsoft that nobody had absolutely any idea about. It'll never happen though.
