HP Prices Touchpad at £399 for UK Release

It is getting kind of difficult to keep track of all the tablet releases nowadays. Android based tablets have pretty much flooded the market, but HP Touchpad is a little different from all the other tablets as it runs on WebOS. Now, whether it is a good thing or bad is yet to be seen. The 9.7 inch tablet would reach the market by mid-July. However, US, Germany and France would be getting the taste of new tablet on July 1st. The tablet would be up for pre-orders starting from June 19th.

HP Touchpad comes with a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, however, the company is touting its operating system 'WebOS' as its USP. The company's senior vice president for Palm Global Business Unit went on to claim that the OS has "unmatched features and flexibility". That's a pretty tall claim and very soon we will be getting a chance to put this claim into test. The OS offers "next-level multitasking" and there would be accessories like wireless keyboard and charging dock.

Earlier this year, HP had unveiled 'sharing' feature for its WebOS devices and the feature would be available on this tablet as well. The feature 'Touch2Share' is very much on the lines of Bump app for iOS, where you can share by 'touching' two WebOS devices together. Though this feature sounds interesting, but it still would be pretty difficult for Touchpad to lure away the users from Toshiba Thrives and Samsung Galaxys.

The tablet has been priced at £399 for 16 GB version whereas its 32 GB model will set you back by £479. The tablet will be available in other countries like Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore and Australia later this year.
