Nokia Chief Technology Officer Rich Green Quits?

Something's going down at Nokia HQ. The Finnish company has just lost their chief technology officer Rich Green. In an official Nokia statement it was said that he had left to resolve a “personal matter” and more worryingly, he has gave no date for his return.

You can't help but wonder if his departure has something to do with the rocky ground Nokia have been walking on this past year. According to Finnish media, sources inside Nokia are saying he had left due to "differences over business strategy" that sounds about right. But the guy could genuinely have some "personal problems" to deal with.

But it would be convenient timing to say the least. MeeGo the recently sidelined OS, was one of Mr Green's projects which was pushed aside for Windows Phone software. The Microsoft, Nokia partnership is probably going to prove a good option in the long run, but internal riffs and splits like this are bound to happen.

That decision was brought about by Nokia boss Stephen Elop’s decision to adopt Microsoft’s Windows Phone software for its smartphones.

Green had joined Nokia in early 2010 following a 19 year stint at Sun Microsystems where he latterly oversaw the move of Java code onto mobile phones. If he is gone, how long until the truth comes out and who is going to replace him? All eyes will be on Nokia over the next few days. Who the replace him with will say a lot about were they are going and what they are planning.
