Remember, the ridicule and scorn Steve Jobs had to face when he decided to give 'iPad' moniker to his avant garde tablet. However, the success of iPad changed everything and the funny name has become the norm for naming upcoming tablets. Asus, though, seems to have taken the ridiculous to a whole new level and has decided to call its upcoming device Padfone. Well, we are just going to hope that the device becomes a runaway success so that the poor tablet/phone hybrid does not get bullied by its peers.
Though, the details about the device are sparse, but it is likely to be displayed at Computex, which is scheduled to be held next week. Padfone is also expected to support capacitive stylus, which is sure to delight creative type users. This piece of information emerged when the curious people at Pocketnow decided to rummage through FCC papers for getting some details about the phone, tablet or whatever.
It would be interesting to see whether Padfone decides to emulate Motorola Atrix 4G, the gadget which was launched with quite a fanfare but subsequently failed to catch the fancy of masses. It may also be an offshoot of Eee Pad Transformer, yet another convertible tablet from Asus, which is having quite a good run. The new mystery device's teaser pictures are available on the company's Facebook page.
Asus is also expected to demo its revamped Eee PC netbook at Computex. The new netbook may run on Linux platform and may be more petite than before. However, Asus will be launching a third product as well. The product is being teased as "a tablet that jumps out at you.” Again, not much information is available about this jumping out tablet, but it may be a 3D tablet. Anyways, we do not have to wait much long for getting more information. Keep watching this space for the complete coverage of Computex.
