When it comes to Apple rumors, iPhone and iPad take the cake for being most gossip-worthy gadgets. So, it's time to broaden our
horizons and take into account the little ones such as iPod Nono. iPod Nano had lost its camera while it was getting all redesigned for the sixth version. However, Nano may just get its mojo and camera back, after all.
According to an Apple centric Taiwanese blog, Apple is looking to redesign the mini audio player and equip it with a 1.3 MP camera. The blog even posted some pictures of the prototype. But, in the world, where double-digit MP cameras are becoming a norm, will a puny 1.3 MP camera suffice? It may not give you crisp pictures, but, if it is front facing, then the camera will be sufficient for FaceTime video conferencing. Apple seems to be on its way to make all its equipments FaceTime friendly.
The blog states that the 7th generation iPod Nano is likely to retain its 6th generation form factor with squarish dimensions. However, it will be a case of you win some, you lose some. While, for the 6th iteration, the audio player lost its camera for getting more petite body, this time over it may have to lose its back- clip for accommodating new camera. For this problem, Apple may come up with a removable clip.
Another problem is with the tiny surface area of Nano. The player has a teeny-weeny screen which measures mere 1.54 inches diagonally. Would you be able to enjoy a video chat or video playback on such tiny screen? Additionally, iPod Nano is generally used with a band accessory for tying it on the wrist or other places and the new camera may not gel with the older accessories.
However, these camera rumors are not new. Just last month, a leaked picture was doing rounds on the internet featuring the frame of the seventh generation device and the frame had a specific slot for a camera. Anyways, the new iPod Nano is likely to be introduced later this year, in September, which is the usual launch time for iPod Nano.
