Rumour: Sony To Be Attacked This Weekend ?

Things could be about to get a whole lot worse for Sony. Worse how could it possibly get worse? Well according to some underground IRC channel the hackers responsible for the current PSN outage, are going to attack Sony again this weekend.

Cnet are reporting the same news although no screen grab or actual evidence has been acquired, so we made need a large pile of salt at the ready.

Apparently the group in question already have access to the Sony servers and are just biding their time, probably waiting for Sony to bring the whole thing online, just to take it down again.

The source reported the attack will take place this weekend, and will be the group's third attempt. It's unclear whether this refers to the twin attacks on the PlayStation Network and Sony Online Entertainment, or the Anonymous-backed DDOS campaign against Sony sites.

Anonymous has denied any connection with the attacks on the PSN, although Sony has revealed it found a suspicious file on its servers in the aftermath, seemingly pointing at the hacktivist group's involvement.

Sony has hired several network security firms and investigators in the wake of the attacks, and has been accused of negligence in protecting user data.

The PSN is expected to come back online before the end of the week, following final testing. But don’t be surprised if goes down again or is attacked at some point over the weekend.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
